Carlsberg Vietnam Named Among 100 Leading Sustainable Businesses in Vietnam, Recognizing Its Ongoing Commitment to Sustainable Growth

Carlsberg Vietnam has been honored among the Top 100 Leading Sustainable Businesses in Vietnam (in the trade-service sector) at the 2025 Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI) Awards Ceremony on December 5, 2025 in Hanoi.

This prestigious annual program, organized by the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) under the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), recognizing enterprises that demonstrate leadership in sustainable development and responsible business practices.

Carlsberg Vietnam is honored to receive this recognition from VBCSD–VCCI in its very first year participating in the Vietnam Corporate Sustainability Index assessment and ranking program.

Now in its 10th year, the CSI program continues to serve as a key sustainability benchmark, guiding Vietnamese businesses toward global ESG standards. With more than 130 indicators in its evaluation framework, this year’s program saw broad participation, underscoring the market’s growing shift as sustainability becomes an increasingly urgent priority.

“This accolade is a meaningful recognition for Carlsberg Vietnam’s persistent efforts. For us, sustainability is a relentless journey that binds business growth with responsibility, and environmental progress with meaningful action for the community. We are committed to walking alongside Vietnam in building a sustainable future through people-centric initiatives that deliver long-lasting impact, aligned with our mission of ‘brewing for a better today and tomorrow’”, shared Bui Huu Quang, Senior Director, Corporate-Government Affairs & Strategy of Carlsberg Vietnam.

Advancing Sustainable Operations

For more than three decades in Vietnam, Carlsberg has positioned sustainability at the core of its strategic direction, beginning with its production operations. The Phu Bai Brewery in Hue City stands as a prime example, demonstrating not only strong production capabilities but also the company’s long-term commitment to environmental and social responsibility.

The brewery integrates advanced technologies to enhance efficiency and minimize environmental impact. Notable innovations include a high-efficiency brewing line that reduces water use by 20% and energy consumption by 15%, as well as the incorporation of I-REC certified renewable electricity and biomass energy.

All wastewater is treated using advanced filtration systems. In 2024, Phu Bai Brewery achieved a water efficiency rate of 2.09 hl/hl, placing it among the top 10 most water-efficient Carlsberg sites in Asia. The site is on track to reach 2.0 hl/hl by 2026 with further goals of zero waste to landfill by end-2025 and net-zero carbon emissions in production by 2028.

Carlsberg Vietnam is also an active member of the Packaging Recycling Organization Vietnam (PRO Vietnam). By 2026, the company targets to achieve 100% reusable or recyclable packaging across all bottles, kegs, and cans, furthering its commitment to sustainable packaging innovation and a circular economy.

Uplifting Local Communities

Beyond green operations, Carlsberg Vietnam implements a range of meaningful community initiatives, particularly in Central Vietnam, a region deeply connected to the heritage of the Huda brand.

A standout example is the “Fresh Water for Beloved Central” program, launched in 2019. To date, it has delivered more than 3.3 million m³ of clean water to nearly 9,500 households, supporting the livelihoods of approximately 40,000 people. Going beyond a clean-water initiative, the program has become a symbol of compassion and long-term dedication to the Central region - a place that has been at the heart of the company’s growth journey for decades.

The “Tet is full, Tet is love” program has also been sustained for over a decade, delivering more than 75.000 Tet gift sets across nine Central provinces, helping local communities celebrate a more joyful and fulfilling Lunar New Year.

Most recently, when Central Vietnam endures one of the most devastating floods in its history, the company has swiftly contributed VND 1.5 billion to support relief and recovery efforts in Hue and Da Nang, reinforcing its commitment to uplifting communities in times of hardship.

Sustainability Begins with People

Within the organization, Carlsberg Vietnam accelerates diversity, equity, and inclusion, fostering a motivating and supportive work environment that empowers employees to grow together. As a result of these efforts, 40% of leadership positions is now held by female members.

The company is also proud to reinforce its commitment to gender equality through the formal signing of the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), marking a strong pledge to promote equal opportunities and an inclusive workplace for all employees.

These efforts have earned Carlsberg Vietnam multiple prestigious recognitions, reinforcing its commitment to creating long-term sustainable value for people and society. In 2025, the company was named as one of Best Companies to Work for in Asia by HR Asia Awards for the third consecutive year.

In September, it also received the “Work the Nordic Way: Best Place to Work” honor at the Nordic Business Awards 2025 organized by NordCham Vietnam. Additionally, Carlsberg Vietnam was honored with “Community Impact” Award for Large Enterprises at the EuroCham Gala Dinner & Business Awards 2025 in November.

These milestones reaffirm that sustainability is integral to Carlsberg Vietnam’s day-to-day operations. As the company advances its business alongside meaningful community contributions, Carlsberg Vietnam continues to generate long-term, wide-reaching value, true to its mission of “brewing for a better today and tomorrow”.
