Role overview 

Reporting to both the MD Vietnam and the VP Legal & Compliance Asia. Overall responsibility for legal and compliance issues for all legal entities (including controlled JVs) in Vietnam and for the attainment of the strategic legal and compliance goals

 

 What you’ll be doing 

  • Shall ensure that the Vietnam legal organization creates value, is cost efficient and contributes significantly to Carlsberg accomplishing its objectives and to the mitigation of material risks and to Carlsberg ”staying out of trouble”
  • Accountable for proactively driving the legal and compliance agenda in Vietnam in line with relevant business priorities and in an efficient manner
  • Ensure that deliverables are integrated and aligned with Group Legal and Compliance strategy
  • Responsible for leading, coaching and developing direct employees (if any) and for KPI setting
  • Accountable and responsible for total legal costs (both internal and external spend) in the country

 

What we’re looking for

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Relevant experience with recognized law firm and/or with multinational or large national company
  • Relevant leadership competencies (or at least potential) for the role
  • Structured and able to handle many complex tasks at once in a dynamic, business-driven environment. Able to act as a partner to local businesses, providing relevant legal advice and push-back when needed
  • Fluency in local language and in English

CORE COMPETENCIES:

Functional expertise:

  • Demonstrates legal precision, sound judgment, strategic competencies and pragmatism as well as strong analytical, drafting and negotiation skills
  • Proven track record of (i) relevant legal experience, including within company law and contract law, (ii) within several compliance areas (competition law, data protection, ABC and trade sanctions) and (iii) with dispute resolution

Business and Results Orientation:

  • Demonstrates distinct business acumen and determination, combined with a sense of urgency and a positive can-do attitude
  • Able to prioritize and take management’s demands into account, positioning Legal as a business advisory function
  • Proactive in addressing relevant opportunities, issues and risks and seeking solutions to the same, becoming a trusted legal advisor to the business
